Treasurer Letter

I am the Treasurer of Lincoln’s Inn and I am writing to you as one of our Honorary Benchers.

I have read your letter dated 13 November 2025 addressed to the President of Pakistan in which you explain your reasons for your resignation from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Apart from what is written in your letter, I do not have any real insight of my own into the factual matters which you there describe.

However, your letter speaks eloquently of your commitment to the fundamental principles of judicial independence and integrity and the importance of upholding your judicial oath. These are principles which are, or certainly ought to be, universal and which this Inn would wish to support.

I have also read a copy of the article which appeared in Dawn Newspaper which tells something of your impressive career as a judge first on the Lahore High Court Bench and then on the Supreme Court Bench. I believe that your outstanding qualities as a judge were the reason for this Inn electing you an Honorary Bencher. It does seem a great pity that Pakistan has lost a judge of your quality and eminence.
